Superman

Day after day, the clock above Sonny's head slowly ticks, "Tick… tock… tick… tock." The prisoner's weary eyes, blood-shot red from endless days of travail, are aching in need of rest. His only possession is the faded picture of his 5-year old wife, Nikki, preciously holding their 11-month old son, John.

On a dark and lonely night, Sonny reaches into his back pocket for this wrinkled, seven-year old photo. As Sonny dreamily gazes at this picture, a drop of blood from the gash on his cheek falls like a raindrop on the edge of the photo. Weakly, he holds the photo up to the small beam of moonlight scattered from the bars toward the top of the solid wall. The unforgettable past flashes into his vulnerable mind, and the crying of words from his wife, "Don't go! Don't go!" races to his head. Then the nightmares of his capture in the Vietnam War come to life in this daze of unconsciousness. As Sonny snaps out of this frightening flashback, his hand holding the photo shakes of fear and pure lifelessness. To Sonny, these bars surrounding him were not just keeping him away from freedom, but from the life he's missing with his family.

With a pencil quivering in Sonny's right hand, and a tattered piece of paper in his left, he begins to write a letter with every last drop of strength in his arms. It reads…

Dear Johnny Boy,

It is December , 171, two days before Christmas, and three days before your eighth birthday. Time flies, days pass, and my heart keeps beating. There was not a single day that has gone by in this prison that I didn't want to end my life. This might be hard for you to understand, but one interesting lesson I learned during this seven-year period of isolation was hope. First, you gain it, and then it keeps increasing until you reach the point when you decide that hope won't do any good in prison. Second, everything you ever hoped for is lost in one split second. Soon, your reason for breathing fades away. I have gone through this cycle constantly, and the only reason why I pick up myself to start all over again, is you. I don't have any possessions or presents that I can give you for Christmas, but the only gift I can give to you, is my appreciation for you rescuing me during the winter of my life. Thank you. Please note that this sample paper on Quee is for your review only. According to the International Labor Organization, in developing countries alone, at least 10 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 are working full time. Many of these children are working in hazardous and unhygienic conditions for extremely long periods of time, and earning very little pay. This is not something that has occurred over night. Throughout history in many places of the world, child labor has become an economic dependence. Since the industrial revolution a large number of children have worked in factories and sweat shops.

Today, high numbers of child labor occurs in poor, undeveloped, and third world countries. Due to the fact that the countries are poor, there are no strict law enforcement to protect children. Poverty is a factor, because poor people are vulnerable for exploitation. Child labor is the exploitation of the weak and the underprivileged.(ILO) If there are no laws or organizations that effectively protect them, the poor have to accept any wage offered, low as it may be.

This means that people may need to send their children to work just to feed and cloth them. The majority of victims are children of minorities or of (illegal) immigrants. This is a result of poor and in the minority groups need to find work and not having the proper working documentation, therefore having to work illegally. India accounts for the largest number of child workers in the world. According to the latest 11 census estimates, some 11.8 million children between the ages 5 and 14 are engaged in child labor.

Child labor is defined as children working too young, working long hours, working under strain, working on the streets, working for very little pay, working on dull repetitive tasks, having to take too much responsibility or being subject to intimidation. Child Labor takes a number of different forms including children working in small businesses, or working for families as servants or domestic help. The word "name" has many denotative meanings. One is a word by which a person, place, or thing is known. Another is a descriptive word or title. And then there's reputation, good or bad. Not only does the word "name" have many different meanings, but also names themselves have different meanings. I believe that a name is that person or thing and a description of the person's or thing's personality and being.

There are many objects that everyone knows by the same name, such as a piece of paper. Everyone who speaks the English language knows it as paper. I've never seen anyone look at a sheet of paper and call it a marker or scissors. This is because we are taught since birth to call certain objects by certain names. Also as we grow, we learn about new objects and their names. By the time we mature, we expect everyone we communicate with to know these items by the same names as we know them. Of course, there are the effects of the slang and the lingo of the region or time that we must adapt to and/or learn. However, no matter what the circumstances or situation, a piece of paper will always be a piece of paper.Names are also a description of a person or thing. Native Americans practiced this ritual of naming people with a name that described them, such as Green Cloud, Running Wolf, and She Black of Heart. According to Louise Erdrich in her article "The Names of Women," these names were later transformed by the pilgrims into names such as Catherine and Marie. Even in today's society, people can tell a lot by a person's name. For example, the name Ernest is not very popular now and is what Erdrich would call a "bad name." She claims that just by hearing the name you can tell that Ernest is either a very strong, outspoken person or very shy. This is because we expect that with a "bad name," Ernest has to deal with ridicule all his life, which meant he had to either stand up for himself or try to ignore it. By standing up for himself, he would build himself into a strong, outspoken person; however, by attempting to ignore it, he would grow up to be weak and shy.

Over the past century there have been three changes in the orientation of marketing distribution, selling and brand management. The Internet is consolidating the fourth stage of marketings evolution marketing as managing individual relationships with customers (Doyle 000).

Since the heydays of mass marketing in the 150s, through the decades to the twenty-first century, marketing thought has pushed for smaller and smaller groups of consumers as market targets (Schiller 18 cited by Goldsmith 1). Initially the response to meeting customer needs better was market segmentation. Companies brought out an increasing number of product variants to meet the diverse needs of their customers. Media too became more segmented mass circulation newspapers and magazines were replaced by a number of specialised issues, and the digitisation of technology also facilitated an explosive growth of the number of radio and television channels. The most rapid change results from the revolution of information technology. By 001, only a decade after the emergence of the world wide web, a fundamental change in business and society had occurred- a critical mass of people, over 00 million, at home and at work, are able to communicate electronically with one another at essentially zero cost, using universal, open standards (Doyle 00).

Micro marketing is a concept that lies in the area of segmentation. It is a segmentation strategy. In Kotlers et al Principles of Marketing, micro marketing is listed as a level of market segmentation Companies can practise no segmentation (mass marketing), complete segmentation (micro marketing) or something in between (segment marketing or niche marketing) (Kotler et al 1). While segment and niche marketers tailor their offers and marketing programmes to meet the needs of various market segments, they do not customise their offers to each individual customer. Segment and niche marketing fall between the extremes of mass marketing and micro marketing. The aim of micro marketing is to get as close to the segment of one, as opposed to mass marketing which does not consider any segmentation at all. Kotler et al (1) define micro marketing as the practice of tailoring products and marketing programmes to suit the tastes of specific individuals and locations.

The Dictionary of Business, Oxford University Press (16) defines micro marketing as

In Australia the Indigenous peoples show discrepancies in social inequalities. Through this paper it will attempt to analyze Australian Aboriginal culture, and heritage. Areas of literature, film, art, history and social sciences will be used to address the overall understanding of the interpretations and representations in Australia.

The social inequalities faced by the contemporary indigenous peoples in Australia, are largely a consequence of their colonial and developmental history. Australia was once a part of the British Empire; their constitutional, political and social institutions are representations of this. Australia has developed economies largely dependent on primary production and extractive industries, initially for English, and later world, markets. Within the political and economic framework, indigenous peoples have severely been marginalized and excluded. This exclusion and associated poverty is frequently seen as the downfall of the Aboriginal people (Berndt, and Berndt 1 p40)

At the time of Europeans arrival, Australian Aborigines were hunter-gathers. Captain Cook description of the Aborigine in 1770 was that of the noble savage. However others looked upon the hunter gather as savages, because of prior dealings with Africans, Black skin was synonymous with primitive and savage (Broom 001 P ). The colonists held two preconceptions of the Aboriginal. The educated minority who tended to romanticize them as the noble savage as seen in Kings 17 painting The Aboriginal Family (Appendix 1), while the uneducated majority considered them just savages (Broom 001p 0). Regardless of the label or preconception of the Aboriginal they were often seen as ignorant with no culture or society, a misconception leading to misunderstanding and inequality for the Aborigine.
